The surge protection on the Kacon HR707N-3PLD-24VDC relay is not designed to protect against lightning strikes. It is designed to absorb the noises that are produced by the relay while the relay is tracking. This relay is most suitable for use where malfunctioning or disturbances are likely to happen in devices such as a PLC. The HR707N-3PLD-24VDC also operates on DC voltage. Surge protection for lightning strikes typically uses AC power.
