The difference between the LED-8090M40-A and the LED-8090M50-A is the color temperature. The M40 has a 4000K color temperature and the M50 has a 5000K color temperature. Color temperature refers to the tint that the light puts out. A 4000K color temperature is sometimes referred to as Cool White. As the name suggests, a 4000K light will have more white in its light output. A 5000K color temperature is sometimes referred to as Daylight. Color temperatures 5000K and above more closely resemble outside daylight, and have more blue in their light output.
The -A model numbers for the LED-8090 series have been replaced by the LED-8090M40-G4 and the LED-8090M50-G4. The -MHBC models are metal halide ballast compatible, meaning there is no bypassing the ballast. The -MHBC models work with pulse start or probe start magnetic metal halide ballasts only.
